Boat setup

Hard Tank

A rigid, molded ballast tank built below the floor of a wake boat that holds water weight without occupying storage or seating space and avoids the mildew issues of soft bags.

A hard tank is a fixed, rigid ballast tank integrated below a boat's floor. Because hard tanks sit beneath the deck, they free up storage room and don't crowd the seating area the way soft bags do, and they avoid the mildew problems associated with bags. Brands including Axis, Malibu, MasterCraft, Supra, and Tige use hard tanks integrated with plumbed sacks, while Centurion and Nautique have moved exclusively to hard tanks in their top-end boats.

Hard tanks are filled and drained by the boat's plumbed ballast pumps and are central to fast-fill systems that get a boat surf-ready in roughly 90 seconds to a few minutes.
