Boat setup
Stern weight
Ballast loaded toward the rear of the boat, which creates a taller, steeper wave with less length.
Stern weight is ballast placed in the back (stern) of the boat. Loading the stern sinks the transom deeper and produces a taller, steeper, punchier wave, though a shorter one. Riders who want a steep wave for vertical hits and quick turns favor more stern bias, while those wanting a long, mellow wave shift weight forward.
Stern and bow weight are tuned together, often around a 2:1 rear-to-bow ratio, to shape both the height and length of the wave.
