Bail

Deliberately jumping off the board mid-ride to avoid a worse, harder fall.

To bail is to intentionally abandon a ride, jumping off the board when a maneuver is going wrong, to avoid a more dangerous or awkward wipeout. Bailing cleanly, falling away from the board and landing flat in the water rather than catching an edge or hitting the board, reduces the chance of injury.

As with any fall, the rider should bail clear of the boat and then signal their status so the spotter and driver can respond.
