Wave

Clean wave

A wake with a smooth, well-defined curling face and minimal turbulence, the ideal surfable shape produced by proper boat setup.

A clean wave is one with a smooth, organized face, a defined lip, and a long pocket, with the white wash held back and out of the riding zone. It is the goal of every boat setup: riders adjust ballast, speed, and wake-shaper position until the lip cleans up and the pocket lengthens.

A clean wave both rides better and is more forgiving, giving the rider a longer, more consistent push and predictable face to carve and trick on. A messy, washy, or short wave makes staying in the push much harder.
