Wave
Glass / glassy
Perfectly calm, mirror-smooth water with no chop, the ideal surface for a clean wakesurf wave.
Glassy water is dead-calm, with no wind chop or competing wakes disturbing the surface, often seen at dawn or dusk. Glass produces the cleanest possible wave because the boat's wake forms without interference, giving a crisp face and well-defined pocket. Wakesurfers chase glassy conditions, frequently launching at sunrise before wind and traffic pick up.
Glass is the opposite of chop, and the difference it makes to wave quality is dramatic, often more than minor setup tweaks.
