Handle

The grip at the end of the wakesurf rope that the rider holds during the deep-water start before dropping the rope.

The handle is the bar at the end of the tow rope that the rider grips to be pulled up and into the wave. On wakesurf setups it's at the end of a short rope, and the rider uses it only briefly, holding on through the deep-water start and while pulling up to the sweet spot, then releasing it once the wave's push takes over.

After the rider drops the handle, the spotter typically pulls the rope and handle back into the boat so it doesn't trail in the water or pose a hazard.
