Surf Speed

The slow boat speed used for wakesurfing, typically around 10-12 mph, held steady by speed control to keep the wave shape consistent.

Surf speed is the slow cruising speed at which a wake boat throws its best surf wave—generally in the neighborhood of 10-12 mph, far slower than wakeboarding or skiing speeds. At these low speeds the deep, ballasted hull displaces a large volume of water to form a tall, pushy, rideable wave.

Holding surf speed precisely is critical because small speed changes alter wave shape and push, which is why speed-control systems like PerfectPass and factory equivalents are used. Power Wedge's Lift Mode engages when speed is set above surf speed to help the boat plane out, then the system returns to surf trim once at speed.
