Throttle control
The driver's smooth management of engine power to bring the rider up gently and then hold a precise, steady surf speed.
Throttle control is the driver's job of applying power smoothly. During the deep-water start the driver eases the throttle forward gradually so the rider can let the boat pull them up without being jerked off the board, then settles into the target surf speed and holds it steadily. Sudden throttle changes wash out the wave and unbalance the rider.
Many wake boats offer cruise or GPS speed control to lock the surf speed, but the driver still manages the launch and any speed adjustments the rider signals for. Smooth, consistent throttle is what keeps the wave clean and the rider in the push.
