Wave

Wave length

How long the rideable wave face is from front to back, lengthened by bow weight and higher speed, shortened by stern weight and lower speed.

Wave length describes how long the surfable section of the wake is, essentially how much room the rider has to move fore and aft within the push. A longer wave is more forgiving and better for linking tricks; a shorter wave is steeper and punchier. Length is tuned mainly through ballast placement (more bow weight lengthens it) and boat speed (faster lengthens and smooths it).

Length trades off against height: setups that make the wave taller and steeper usually make it shorter, so riders balance the two to match their style.
