Whitewash

The rolling wall of foam left behind after a wave breaks, sitting just behind the curl at the back of a wakesurf wave's rideable face.

Whitewash (whitewater) is the turbulent, aerated foam created after a wave breaks. On a wakesurf wave it forms the churning region just behind the curl, marking the rear edge of the clean, rideable face.

Riders stay ahead of the whitewash on the smooth face within the pocket; drifting into the whitewash typically means losing the wave's push and falling off the back.
