Rocker

The curve of the board from nose to tail; more rocker turns more easily, less (flatter) rocker rides faster and looser.

Rocker is the upward curve along the length of the board's bottom. A board with more rocker (more banana-like) turns and pivots more easily and rides higher in the wave, which suits surf-style carving and aerial control. A flatter board, with low rocker, is faster and looser on the surface, which is why skim boards keep rocker minimal to spin and slide freely.

Rocker works together with fins and volume to define a board's character, and choosing the right rocker is part of matching a board to surf versus skim style.
