Surf-Style Board

A thicker, higher-volume wakesurf board with a shaped tail and larger fins that floats high, catches the wave easily, and is the most beginner-friendly style.

Surf-style wakesurf boards are designed and shaped like ocean surfboards, with thicker profiles, wide or shaped tails, and larger fins. The higher volume creates more buoyancy so the board floats high on the water, giving it more glide, easier wave-catching, and quicker speed generation. Larger fins maintain edge-to-edge control and forward drive while reducing the effort to keep up with the wake.

Because they are stable and forgiving, surf-style boards are the most user-friendly and the usual choice for beginners. Common tail shapes—squash, square, fish, and swallowtail—are used to generate forward drive and reduce the effort to stay in the wave's pocket.
