Boat setup

Trim Plate

An adjustable plate or tab at the transom that changes the boat's running attitude (trim), used to fine-tune wave length, steepness, and the bow's rise out of the water.

A trim plate adjusts the boat's trim—the fore-aft angle at which the hull rides through the water—to refine the wakesurf wave. Tige's TAPS is a trim-based wave shaper, and Malibu's Power Wedge functions similarly by deploying a foil that alters running attitude. Lowering the stern (or raising the bow) generally produces a taller, steeper wave, while flattening the trim lengthens and mellows the face.

Trim adjustment is a core tuning lever in any wakesurf setup, working together with ballast distribution and the surf system to dial in the exact wave shape the rider wants.
