Cutback
A turn that takes the rider up toward the top of the wave and then arcs back down toward its base, redirecting flow back into the pocket.
A cutback is a maneuver performed while riding a wave to aim toward the apex (top) of the wave and then carve back toward the base. In wakesurfing it is used to stay in the power of the wave: when a rider drifts forward toward the flat front of the wake, a cutback redirects them back toward the pocket and the push.
Frontside and backside cutbacks differ by which way the rider faces through the turn, and the move is a building block for more aggressive face maneuvers like slashes and off-the-lip turns.
