Technique

Frontside

A turn or rotation done toward the toe side of the board (chest facing the wave), the direction a rider faces the wave through the turn.

Frontside describes maneuvers performed toward a rider's toes, so the rider's chest and front face the wave through the turn. For a goofy rider frontside is to the left and for a regular rider it is to the right. Frontside turns generally feel more natural and visible because the rider is looking into the wave.

The frontside/backside distinction labels nearly every turn, slide, and spin in wakesurfing, defining whether a rider rotates toward or away from the wave face.
