Wave
Face
The unbroken sloping front of the wave between the lip and the trough, where riders generate speed and perform maneuvers.
The face is the smooth, unbroken portion of the wave running from the lip down to the trough. It is the main canvas of wakesurfing: riders pump up and down the face to build speed and draw carves and cutbacks across it. The steeper and cleaner the face, the more drive and the more vertical the maneuvers a rider can pull.
Surf-style riding in particular centers on riding the face, while the lip and trough mark its upper and lower boundaries.
